South Park.

- Lack of money was not a limitation to her; she and her family had strategies to overcome this, offering informal painting classes at their house and turning the garden into a place for students to camp. In a short film, Wylie says that friends of her children asked why she was always dressed in the same clothes; her reply was “as a radical non consumer, I prefer dealing with what I have.

- "I live in the countryside in Kent, and in the 1970s, there was a teenage girl from across the way who used to wash cars outside her house," she explains.
"She was always wearing a bikini, with a fag coming out of her mouth.
I affectionately nicknamed her Lolita.
More recently, I did a sketch of a girl leaning on a car, and it reminded me of her.
It was the beginning of an entire series of works about the place that I call home."

Recently, we identified artist Rose Wylie as one of the Aero Girls. Her portrait by artist Anthony Devas is one of at least twenty oil paintings of women commissioned to relaunch the Aero bar after the Second World War, as sugar rationing was finally coming to an end.

Stanley and His Daughters.

- BBC Four - Arena, Stanley and His Daughters:
Documentary about Spencer, his wife Hilda and their daughters, Shirin and Unity.
‘Our family life was a tragedy’

- Arena: Stanley and His Daughters – Why Stanley Spencer tore apart his family for a lesbian muse - Radio Times:
“I hardly ever saw my father,” says Shirin Spencer.
“I remember him coming to my birthday once. We were playing a party game and someone pulled him away from me and I thought, ‘He’s going again. I won’t see him.’ I howled and howled.”

Shirin is the only surviving witness to one of the strangest stories in British art.
The 92-year-old (Shirin, was born in November 1925) lives in a village in the Vale of Glamorgan among the effects of her father, the world-renowned painter Stanley Spencer.
She has the palette he mixed his oils on and some of the often explicit love letters he wrote to her mother, the painter Hilda Carline.
She also has a vivid memory of watching her father paint his masterpiece, the 19 pictures in the First World War memorial chapel at Burghclere in Hampshire, created between 1926 and 1932.

Alice Neel. Collector of souls.

"Alice Neel (January 28, 1900 – October 13, 1984) was an American visual artist, who was particularly well known for oil painting and for her portraits depicting friends, family, lovers, poets, artists and strangers."

- Alice Neel:
“I have this overweening interest in humanity. Even if I’m not working I’m still analysing people.”

- Andrew Neel on ‘Alice Neel’ (Watch It Now FREE!) | IndieWire:
The American painter's troubled life fed into her disturbing, exhilarating portraits – of family, friends, artists and socialites.

- A Grandson Paints a Portrait of a Portraitist - The New York Times:
In November 1928, whilst living in the Bronx, Alice gave birth to her second child, a daughter, Isabella Lillian, who became known as Isabetta. It was around this time that problems appeared with regards Alice and Enrquez’s relationship. The couple had often planned to go to Paris but it had never happened. However, in May 1930 Enriquez, along with Isabetta, left America and travelled back to his parent’s home in Cuba. His idea was to leave his daughter with his parents whilst he returned to America, collected Alice and for them both to head off to France. Alice had agreed to the plan and had even sub-let their New York apartment and moved back in with her parents in Colwyn. She also found work at the art studio of her friends, Ethel Ashton and Rhoda Meyers. Everything seemed to be going to plan, but………

One sequence examines the mystery of Isabetta, who committed suicide in 1982, two years before her mother’s death.
They saw each other only three times after 1930; during the most extended visit, in 1934, Isabetta, then 6, posed naked for a portrait.
In the film her daughter, Cristina Lancella, a Cuban émigré who lives in Miami and has never met her uncles, complains bitterly about Isabetta’s abandonment.
Speaking of the portrait’s possibly damaging effect on her mother, she says: “I think it’s disgusting. I would never have my children naked like that.”

Robert Rauschenberg.

Milton Ernest "Robert" Rauschenberg (October 22, 1925 – May 12, 2008) was an American painter and graphic artist whose early works anticipated the pop art movement.

The Rauschenberg Residency on Captiva | New York Social Diary

Alistair Sooke (pictured) celebrates the genius of America’s most prolific and original artist, Robert Rauschenberg. Fearless and influential, he blazed a trail for artists in the second half of the 20th century, and yet his work is rarely seen here in the UK.

Momijigari: autumn leaves.

Culture - Momijigari: autumn leaves | Japan Forum
-"maple tree" (pronounced: momiji)

Jean Arp, Sophie Taeuber-Arp, Marguerite Arp.

- Google marks 127th birthday of Swiss Dada artist Sophie Taeuber-Arp - Telegraph
So who was Sophie Taeuber-Arp?
Born in Davos, Switzerland in 1889 as Sophie Henriette Gertrude Taeuber, Taeuber-Arp is now recognised as one of the key figures in the Dada artistic movement, though in her lifetime she fought for her less figurative style of art to be recognised as fine art.
Taeuber-Arp studied drawing and attended the School for Applied and Free Art in Munich before leaving for Zurich in 1915, where she met and later married French sculptor, painter and collagist Hans Arp in 1922.
The pair famously created vast, abstract multimedia works under the umbrella Duo Collages.
As well as a skilled artist, Taeuber-Arp was also a lauded dancer, and performed at the Cabaret Voltaire nightclub which was a firm favourite with the Dada crowd.
She died in Zurich in 1943 of accidental carbon monoxide poisoning (a faulty stove), and remains the only woman to date to feature on Swiss banknotes.
The Dadaist movement was an art movement of the European avant-garde in the early 20th century

Вопрос вкусов с Грейсоном Перри / All in the Best Possible Taste with Grayson Perry (Нил Кромби / Neil Crombie) [2012, Великобритания, документальный, культурологический, DVB] DVO (Селена Интернешнл) :: RuTracker.org (ex torrents.ru):

Japan, above the clouds, views on the forest of water.

Japan, above the clouds, views on the forest of water | Lypophrenia:
"Senju Hiroshi’s “A Forest of Water” (2008), which appears like a Japanese folding screen, is essentially a backlit landscape, but one given modern depth by little movements such as rippling water or the sound of a bird call in the distance. The technology here amplifies the visual power of the image, but it also turns the conventions of ink painting into kitsch."

Lost Bohemia – where I want to live when I’m old.

"Lost Bohemia is the result and perfectly sums up the eccentric, creative lives of the residents and why it is so sad they are no longer there. It is the sort of place I would love to live both now and when I am 98, especially in Editta’s amazing studio!" The Womens Room:
