"East Is East" T. Coraghessan Boyle
"East Is East", - this is one of those novels that simply needs to be read in order to be understood.
It's the story of searching for one's identity and place in the world, of prejudice and preconceived notions, of misunderstandings. T. Coraghessan Boyle's fiction is consistently concerned with the clash of cultures.
Hiro is baffled to find that instead of Brotherly Love, he is greeted at every step with fear and suspicion.
Author of "East Is East" (1990)Tom Coraghessan Boyle - born on December 2, 1948 is a U.S. novelist and short story writer. He has been teaching at the University of Southern California since 1978. He received a Ph.D. degree in Nineteenth Century British Literature from the University of Iowa in 1977, his M.F.A. from the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop in 1974, and his B.A. in English and History from SUNY Potsdam in 1968. He has been a member of the English Department at the University of Southern California since 1978. His books are available in a number of foreign languages, including Russian. He currently lives near Santa Barbara with his wife and three children.
